Wichita State University 3DEXPERIENCE Center Case Study
Case study on how Wichita State University NIAR uses the 3DEXPERIENCE platform to train students on aerospace design, simulation, and manufacturing.
Wichita State University partnered with Dassault Systemes to establish a 3DEXPERIENCE Center at its Innovation Campus. The center gives engineering students access to an integrated platform covering composites design, generative design, virtual simulation, robotics, and project planning. The first project is a modular unmanned aerial system developed from concept to flight within 90 days. Students use unified data, requirements tracking, and digital pre-validation to cut development time and weight while meeting certification and performance targets.
Integrated 3DEXPERIENCE platform enables end-to-end UAS development from requirements through flight test
Generative design and virtual simulation reduced gimbal weight and added 15-30 minutes of flight time per charge
Single source of truth eliminated data translation issues and supported real-time project tracking
Development cycle compressed from typical three years to 18 months with target of 3-4 months
Students gain hands-on experience with tools used by aerospace employers, reducing future training time
