Town of Tonawanda Water Resource Dept. SCADA Upgrade Case Study
Case study showing how GENESIS32 and WebHMI replaced legacy HMI/SCADA at a municipal water and wastewater utility, cutting support costs and adding redundancy.
The Town of Tonawanda Water Resource Department replaced an aging competitor HMI/SCADA system with ICONICS GENESIS32 Enterprise Edition and WebHMI. Five GENESIS32 servers, five WebHMI servers, DataWorX32 redundancy, and OPC drivers now monitor 4,000 I/O points across treatment plants and 13 remote pump stations. The project paid for itself in the first year through lower support fees and delivered thin-client access, multi-level redundancy, and a scalable platform for future reporting and mobile use.
GENESIS32 and WebHMI replaced legacy HMI/SCADA and eliminated high annual support costs
Multi-level redundancy across two treatment plants and remote stations ensures continuous operation
4,000 I/O points connected via KEPware OPC drivers to Modicon PLCs and Industrial Control Links devices
Thin-client WebHMI enables browser-based access with server-side licensing and administration
System installed by municipal staff with local integrator support; ReportWorX planned for future rollout
