KTZ implemented an Automation System of Control and consumption for Energy (ASCUE) to monitor electricity use across 14,000 km of rail. The project automated 322 substations using GENESIS32 HMI/SCADA connected via RS-485, VHF, GSM, DSL, Ethernet and satellite. The system tracks 9,100 parameters from 300 data nodes to reduce energy costs and support centralized control.

Key takeaways

GENESIS32 deployed for ASCUE across 322 substations including 58 energy nodes

9,100 parameters monitored via 300 data acquisition nodes

Communications include RS-485, VHF radio, GSM/GPRS, DSL, Ethernet and satellite

Integration with Windows Server, SQL Server and existing Microsoft infrastructure

System supports cost reduction and expansion to additional KTZ regions
