
Baidu Apollo ACU: Automated Valet Parking Compute Platform
Case study of Baidu and Flex joint development of the Apollo Computing Unit (ACU) for SAE Level-4 Automated Valet Parking without external infrastructure.
Baidu partnered with Flex to design and manufacture the Apollo Computing Unit, a rugged automotive-grade compute platform for Level-4 autonomous parking. The ACU processes data from cameras, ultrasonic radars, and other sensors to enable inside-out Automated Valet Parking. Production began in 2021 after 18 months of development under ISO 26262 and IATF 16949 standards.
