Adidas Spartanburg DC Automation Case Study: WMS Integration
Case study of Adidas consolidating two U.S. distribution centers into a 2M sq ft automated campus using Intelligrated conveyors, sorters, and WMS controls.
Adidas consolidated distribution after acquiring Reebok by building two greenfield DCs in Spartanburg, SC. The project integrated high-speed conveyors, bulk-dump induction, sliding shoe sorters, and InControlWare controls to process hundreds of thousands of units daily. Goals included improving service levels, reducing operating costs, and scaling for e-commerce growth while meeting same-day shipping commitments.
Consolidated two DCs into 2M sq ft campus handling apparel and footwear at high daily volume
Bulk-dump waterfall induction and domino shoebox induction enabled rapid morning wave processing
IntelliSort sliding shoe sorters and timed-release packing merges supported 18,000 units per hour
WMS-directed residual picking and e-waves enabled same-day shipping for orders before 3 p.m.
Project delivered on-time and on-budget with measurable gains in productivity and service levels
